Exoliva was created in 1981 as a family company in Plasencia (Cáceres) in Extremadura, Spain, where it began its activity in the olive market, filling and packing Cacereña olives, the best selling type of olives in that region.
In 1998, a new group of directors took charge and brought with them an international vision, whereas previously, EXOLIVA was focused on the national Spanish market. The new team also introduced green olives to its product portfolio.
Significant investments have since been made to enlarge and develop the company, amongst them is the acquisition of a second factory in 1999 in Almendralejo (Badajoz) to fill green olives as well as several enlargement investments made to the main Plasencia factory. As a result of this strategy EXOLIVA's turnover became 5 times greater reaching 32 million euros in 2006.
As of the end of 2006, Sovena Group became the main shareholder and added new markets and a complete range of olive oils to EXOLIVA's portfolio.
Today, EXOLIVA sells olives to more than 50 countries spread across 5 continents. It's the largest Spanish exporter of black olives and the 5th in green olives, and is growing as an exporter of olive oil.
